I am off to Chile for Christmas Break. The US Embassy gave me a temporary passport, and now the plan is to get as far south in Chile that we can (randy, caity, and I). I'm going to take cash, and when I get half way through it, I will turn around and come back. Randy and Caity have the morbid goal of finding a penguin and kicking it, while my goal is just to get to Patagonia.
I'm guessing this adventure will last about 2 weeks, which will leave me with one more week of freedom. I'm hoping to hike over half of the mountain range (the Cordillera Real) with this one extra week. We'll see.
Anyways, Merry Christmas to all. You are all in my prayers over this holliday season.

Dad, tell me you aren't bringing up your "6 rules" again. We all know that Jon refuted a good 5 of your 6 rules on life, ha ha. Jon, its good to read about whats going on down in South America. Sorry I wasn't able to make it down there this Christmas. I have been on the road for 4 weeks straight now and am finsihing up my last trip in Washington D.C. right now. I wanted to give you a (belated) christmas gift this year, so shoot me an email and we can figure out how to do it. It will most likely be in the form of a cash incentive, so I will need your bank info etc.... The mountains look gorgeous and please tell me that you will stop your friends from even thinking about kicking a penguin, the thought absolutely disgusts me. Happy Holidays, Dave
